History of Shimadzu Diagnostics

1935-

April 1935 Established as Nissan Fishery Research Institute Co., Ltd., in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, to engage in activities such as fishery surveys, improvement of fishing boats and equipment, and research on methods for producing processed seafood.
June 1937 Constructed a factory in Komagome Hayashi-machi, Hongo-ku, Tokyo and began making and selling blood-volume-enhancing nutrients from whale livers and a gastrointestinal drug from animal bile.
November 1948 Relocated the head office to Komagome Hayashi-machi, Hongo-ku, Tokyo and focused the business on making and selling pharmaceuticals.
June 1952 Launched SS Agar. Entry in the clinical laboratory and microbiology market.
June 1955 Took over the marketing channels of Tomoe Yakuhin K. K. and began operating as a nonprescription drug manufacturer selling directly to drugstores and pharmacies.
February 1958 Renamed to Nissan Research Institute Co., Ltd.

1960-

January 1960 Relocated the head office to Dozaka-cho, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
January 1962 Renamed to Nissui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
December 1966 Relocated the head office to Sendagi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
January 1967 Built a production plant in Soka, Saitama Prefecture to establish a centralized production system.
July 1970 Relocated the research laboratory from Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd.’s Central Research Laboratory to a newly established research laboratory on the grounds of the Soka production plant.
November 1971 Relocated the head office to Komagome, Toshima-ku, Tokyo.
July 1976 Relocated pharmaceutical production from Soka to a newly constructed GMP-qualified pharmaceutical production plant in Yuki, Ibaraki Prefecture.
November 1978 Relocated diagnostic agent production and the research laboratory from Soka to a newly constructed diagnostic agent production plant in Yuki.

1980-

February 1982 Constructed Central Research Laboratory in Yuki.
May 1983 Moved the head office to Sugamo, Toshima-ku, Tokyo
August 1984 Constructed a molecular biology laboratory in Yuki.
October 1984 Established a logistics center in Heiwajima, Ota-ku, Tokyo and engaged Nippon Express Co., Ltd. to handle warehousing and distribution work.
October 1984 Established Lifemin Co., Ltd. (wholly owned subsidiary).
January 1990 Acquired property to build a new production plant in Akeno, Ibaraki Prefecture.
December 1990 Listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange market.
January 1993 Relocated production facilities for liquid pharmaceutical preparations to Akeno, Ibaraki Prefecture from Yuki.
March 1998 Relocated logistics operations from Heiwajima to the newly constructed Central Logistics Center in Yuki.
October 1999 Relocated production facilities for solid pharmaceuticals from Yuki to the expanded Akeno production plant.

2000-

April 2004 Acquired all of the outstanding shares of JAPAN CREATE Co., Ltd. (consolidated subsidiary).
July 2004 Remove head office to Ueno, Tokyo (own building)
November 2006 Listing on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange market.
September 2007 Acquired a training center (Ajiro Community Center) in Atami, Shizuoka.
February 2008 Added a raw material plant to the pharmaceutical production plant in Chikusei, Ibaraki Prefecture.
April 2009 Merged the operations of JAPAN CREATE Co., Ltd. (consolidated subsidiary) into those of Nissui Pharmaceutical.
April 2010 Merged the operations of Lifemin Co., Ltd. (wholly owned subsidiary) into Nissui Pharmaceutical.
April 2010 Acquired all of the outstanding shares of LisBlanc Co., Ltd. (wholly owned subsidiary).
April 2011 Merged the operations of LisBlanc Co., Ltd. (wholly owned subsidiary) into Nissui Pharmaceutical.
June 2011 Opened the Kenko Sozo Kan (Health Creation House) within the head office building.
August 2012 Acquired all of the outstanding shares of MIKUNI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Co., Ltd. (non-consolidated subsidiary).
January 2013 Merged the operations of MIKUNI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Co., Ltd. (non-consolidated subsidiary) into Nissui Pharmaceutical.
March 2015 Concluded the operations of the Kenko Sozo Kan.
June 2016 Established Nissui Pharma Medical Sales Co., Ltd. (consolidated subsidiary)
July 2016 Established Nissui Pharma Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (consolidated subsidiary)
July 2017 Transfered all shares in Nissui Pharma Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (consolidated subsidiary)
